Energy

Energy is an important topic in this election because the United States is consuming more oil than ever. This means that since the U.S. is dependent on foreign oil so much, the countries where we get our oil can raise the price higher and higher leaving many Americans with a much lighter pocket. A solution to that is to lessen dependence on foreign oil by harnessing solar, wind and hydro power as a substitute for oil, if not completely then mostly.

Senators McCain and Obama do not have very different ideas and plans when it comes to energy. Senator McCain has many friends in the oil industry which makes it harder for him to completely give up dependence on foreign oil. He is, however, for finding alternative means of producing energy. Senator Obama, on the other hand, wants to limit the need for foreign oil to as little as possible while using alternative means of producing energy (solar, wind, hydro, clean coal, etc.) and using as much clean, domestic oil as possible.

I believe that we should cut all dependence on foreign oil as much as possible, use other means of producing energy, use as much oil from Alaska as we can without harming the environment.
